welcome to MaNAP
In June 1997 Manchester Network Access Point Ltd (MaNAP) was formed as a not-for-profit regional Internet exchange. In April 2005, MaNAP was taken over by NWIX Group Ltd and the network was expanded to better serve the North West region.
In recognition of this network expansion, now operating over 2000Km of fibre, Manchester Network Access Point Ltd was renamed to Edge-IX Ltd in September 2009. Edge-IX is now established as the premier Internet Exchange, with the ability to serve the regions of the UK like never before.
Today Edge-IX still operates on a not-for-profit basis and the strong belief of the Manchester Network Access Points founding members that an Internet Exchange exists for the good of the whole UK Internet community is at the heart of everything we do.
By bringing the Internet exchange closer to the ISP and content providers via a multi-terabit architecture, we ensure traffic is moved away from the core and distributed at the edge. To find out more about Edge-IX please click here.
Edge-IX Ltd is a wholly owned not-for profit subsidiary of NWIX Group Ltd
